About Us
Here is a little bit about who we are at St Mary's but for more information please have a look at our website and facebook pages!
We strive to be welcoming and inclusive at all of our services and there will always be people around to help you out. Our aim is to be informally formal, or formally informal – that is, we always want to do our best in worship and give glory to God in all that we do, but we are relaxed if things don’t necessarily work out the way it was planned. It’s a good idea to arrive a few minutes before the service you’ve decided to come to – so that you can see where everything is.
When you arrive there will be a Welcoming team handing out service booklets and the weekly news sheet. This will tell you everything you need to know – but just ask if you’ve got any questions. There are refreshments after the 10am service – do hang around to meet people. We have proper coffee in proper mugs, along with proper tea and juice. And there is often cake!
We offer Pastoral care to all who need it along with services for Baptism, Marriage and Funerals. We offer an annual bereavement service where people can gather to remember loved ones as well as opening our church every day for visiting and private prayer. We’re here for everything that life throws at you – good or bad. If you need to talk, pop in or give us a call.
We have our own dedicated Youth and Children’s worker who develops our links with children, young people and families. On Sunday mornings we run our amazing children’s ministry – All Stars. We have a wide range of children’s groups and an exciting calendar of special events thought out the year – take a look at our Youth & Children’s page to learn more.
All of our services provide excellent teaching on the scriptures as well as opportunities to engage in worship that appeals to all of our senses – through music, colour, words and community. We aim to offer a space where all can experience God and the power of His Spirit.
St. Mary’s is very mindful of the care, well-being, and safeguarding of all our children and vulnerable adults. We adhere diligently to diocesan and national safeguarding guidelines. Our safeguarding information can be found here. Our Parish Safeguarding Officer is Ruth Goddard who can be contacted at [email protected] alternatively you can contact the Rector, Rev Rachel Greene.
We aim to be at the centre of our community in the village of Chiddingfold. We celebrate the strong links we enjoy with our village nurseries, primary school, uniformed organisations and other village groups for all ages. Our church room is a great meeting space/small function room for hire and is used regularly for community activities.
