About Us

Pastoral reorganisation is currently underway and Merton: St Peter are informally working with the benefice of Ashill, Carbrooke, Ovington and Saham Toney.

St Peter’s Merton is a small flint church with a round tower.

It sits within a fairly large churchyard, on a rise in the ground, with a beautiful view of Merton Hall and the lake or “mere” which supposedly gave Mer-ton its name.

It has always been the parish church for Merton village, but in the early 19th century the park around Merton Hall was expanded, so the church and churchyard now lie inside Merton Park.

The church is used for regular services and occasional concerts and social events. The churchyard is managed as a wildlife conservation area, with mown paths around the more recent graves.
