HERITAGE DAY MAY 18TH 10AM TO 4PM

Occuring
for 6 hours
Venue
Whitley parish church of St Mary and St Michael, and Whitley Community Centre
Address
Whitley parish church of St Mary and St Michael, and Whitley Community Centre, Both venues are Howroyd Lane, Whitley, Dewsbury, WF12 0NB, WF12 0NB

Our first Heritage Day, last year, was a brilliant success! This year we hope it will be even better! We are having it in two venues - the church, of course, and also the community centre which is 100 yards further down the road from the church, and is where you can park your car! There will be an exhibition in church and also an information board about the soldiers from our area who lost their lives in the first World War, and whose names are on a pillar in the church. Old photos and information about the area long ago are all on display. Refreshments for lunch are available also, - sandwiches, cakes etc.
In the community centre we will have historical talks by two very well known people - Stuart Hartley and Christine Leveridge. There will be a display, a Victorian quiz, old games which people used to play and a Victorian school which you can take part in! There are refreshments here too, - hot dogs, beefburgers, cakes etc . Entry at both places is free but we ask for a donation for food please. ALL WELCOME. COME AND JOIN US!
