Reflections is a 45-minute lunchtime concert programme – an inspiring sequence of beautiful unaccompanied melody alongside classic poetry. It is written and performed by bassoonist Laurence Perkins, a Hyperion Records solo artist who is regularly featured on Classic FM, BBC Radio 3 and worldwide radio stations. Covering nearly 1000 years of melodic inspiration, from 13th century Hildegard of Bingen to the present day, the programme also includes music by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert, alongside thoughtful words from Shakespeare, Lord Byron, Walter de la Mare and Wilfred Owen.
All Reflections concerts are given (without performer fee) in support of two outstanding UK organisations who are working tirelessly towards supporting survivors of war and conflict around the world. Both UK-Med and Music Action International are very active in supporting people in Ukraine, Gaza and other war-torn territories, providing medical and humanitarian support for anyone who needs help, regardless of nationality.
Audience members will be invited to donate towards these charities, and 100% of the sums donated will be paid to these organisations, as any essential tour expenses are covered by separate crowdfunding for that specific purpose.
Reflections concerts do not have an interval.
