The Benefice Choir

We are a mixed church choir of all ages and always warmly welcome new members. We lead the worship by singing at services on Sundays and at special events for Advent, Christmas and Easter.

Practice is on Thursdays during term time from 7-8pm at St Mary’s Church, Standon

We follow the training programmes of the Royal School of Church Music and sing with other church choirs in the East Herts Church Choirs Association and at Cathedrals. A service of Choral Evensong is sung each month at St Mary's at 6pm on the fourth Sunday (except December).

Recently our choir has had the privilege of singing services in Bury St Edmunds, Winchester and Canterbury Cathedrals. On Saturday April 26th we will sing Evensong in Southwark Cathedral at 4pm.

Concerts

Our churches are regularly used for concerts and recitals. There are pipe organs and keyboards in our churches and a Grand Piano in St Mary's. Upcoming concerts and events:

Midweek Music at St Mary’s Upcoming concerts on 4th Wednesdays:

26th February; 26th March; 23rd April; 28th May; 25th June; 23rd July; 24th September; 22nd October and 26th November; No concert in August or December. Refreshments from 11.30 followed by an informal concert at 12.30 We look forward to seeing you! There is no charge, but there will be a chance to donate if you would like to.
