This weekend’s Bible readings:

Acts 2:1-21 (p 1093) and John 16:4b-15 (p 1084)

Annual meetings:

Thank you to all who came to the annual meetings. Our Church Wardens for the next year are Derek W and Janet A for Sacombe, Keith and Marion for Standon, with Angie and Michael acting as deputies. We still don’t have any wardens at All Saints; please pray that God will call volunteers to this role.

Midweek Music at St Mary’s, 22nd May:

On Wednesday at St Mary’s, we shall be entertained by some of the students at St Edmunds College, under the directorship of Andrew O’Brien, the head of the music department. The concert will start at 12.30 and refreshments will be served as usual from 11.30. Please come and support these youngsters as they demonstrate their talents to us. We look forward very much to welcoming you.

Congratulations to Thomas:

Thomas was home last weekend from university, in order to attend Buckingham Palace, where he received his Duke of Edinburgh gold award. Congratulation to Thomas! Please continue to pray for him as he studies and worships in Liverpool.

Pop Up Shop 26th May:

The pop up shop will be open next Sunday at the 10.30 service at St Mary’s. There will be some items for which only a donation is needed which will go directly to the food bank. There will also be some delicious fair trade chocolate, coffees and tea as well as Christian gifts and cards.

Book stall 26th May:

There won’t be a book stall at our all-age service this month, as Lizzy will be away. However, she is, as always, happy to order any Christian book that you would like to buy. She can be emailed at [email protected].

Sunday lunch at the Star:

Heather’s next Sunday lunch will be on 26th May at 12.15pm at The Star in Standon. If you would like to book a place please contact Heather on 07909065550 by Monday.

Standon Open Gardens 8th June:

Tickets are now on sale for the FOSM Open Gardens event, which will take place, as usual, on the second Saturday in June, from 11.00 am until 5.00 pm. We are looking for helpers and people to bake for the various tea and cake stops around the route. Please contact one of the committee if you can offer your services.

And Dane End Open Gardens 23rd June:

Please can you spare an hour or make some cookies? On June 23rd, 12noon - 5pm, the Dane End Parish Council is holding an Open Gardens on behalf of All Saints church, to raise funds to “repair the roof “. We will be providing tours inside and outside of the church, with refreshments served by volunteers from the church.

Please let Deborah know if you could help on a rota in the church to serve refreshments on that day. Also if anyone would be able to make some ‘manhole cover cookies’ to serve, please ask Deborah for a recipe, or reply to the email when you receive this sheet, and Caroline will send it to you.
