The Venerable Stewart Fyfe, Archdeacon of West Cumberland will be the keynote speaker. Stewart has a vast amount of experience of and a real heart for the rural church. The aim is to bring together those who serve in and have a heart for the rural churches across our diocese, to gather together, to connect with others, to be inspired, equipped, to worship and pray together and to leave with renewed hope for all that God is doing and will do in our rural churches. The event is open to ministry teams and any others who would benefit from the day. There is no charge and lunch and refreshments are included. Please book before 29th February, as catering numbers need to be finalised two weeks before the day. Rebecca will be collecting names and will make a block booking for our benefice; please let her know if you would like to go.St Mary’s hassocks need some TLC: Several of the hassocks in St Mary’s have lost their D rings, which we use to hang them on the cup hooks on the back of the pews. If you would be willing to help sew on new tapes to re-secure the D rings, please speak to Marion.Hospital transport looking for volunteer drivers: The dedicated hospital transport team offers lifts to local people who need them. It could be simply picking up someone in the village and taking him or her to the surgery, or it might involve a trip to an outpatients appointment at hospital. If you think you can offer some of your time (however little or large an amount), please speak to Wendy. The pop up shop returns this Sunday after the 10.30 morning service at St Mary's, Standon. We sell a variety of fairly traded and ethically sourced products and also Christian cards and gifts. Over the next few months we shall also have some Easter cards available.Choral evensong this Sunday: Our regular monthly service of choral evensong will take place this weekend, at 6.00 pm on Sunday. Please come along and enjoy this contemplative service, with music led by our benefice choir.Be More Informed: Palestine: Basma will be speaking in Standon Village Hall on 3rd February at 3.00 pm on ‘Understanding the Palestinian people, their origins, culture, recent history and aspirations’. Tickets are £5 and will include tea, coffee and Levantine sweets. This weekend’s Bible readings: Isaiah 60:1-3 (p 746) and John 3:16-24 (p 1066)Midweek Music at St Mary's: This month's concert is on Wednesday 24th at 12.30, when we will be welcoming back Huw Jenkins to give a concert of organ music. Huw performed as an accompanist at St Mary's at a midweek concert last year and he has also played for services covering for Michael. There has been an unexpected financial benefit from these concerts and their success is largely because of the support of the whole Benefice. You will be pleased to know that donations are now shared between all three churches to continue our shared mission and outreach.Do come and join us for refreshments from 11.30 if you’d like to.
