Who are the Friends?
The Friends are a group of people who care about this church building. Our focus is the grade 1 listed building: preserving its history and ensuring it remains in good order and of service to the community for present needs and the years to come. You can find out more about the history of the building on the 'About us' page of this website.
The purpose of the Friends
*To promote St Mary’s as a centre for community and cultural activities
* To raise money for the preservation and repair of this important local building
Recent projects
The Friends have contributed to many projects recently to both preserve the building, and ensure it is inclusive for all of those who use it. This has included contributing to the organ, font and West Window restoration, installing a ramp to make it easier for those with mobility issues, improving the sound and lighting systems, and most recently contributing to the cost of redecorating the nave. These projects, as well as others, have benefitted from over £30 000 raised by the Friends.Why become a friend?
As a friend, you will be invited to various social events throughout the year, including concerts and recitals, talks and other social events
Friends also regular newsletter, and an invitation to the Annual General meetingAnd most of all you will know that you are contributing to the preservation of this fine building!
