A Service for the Longest Night

Occuring
for 1 hour
Venue
St Michael's Woolmer Green
Address
Mardleybury Road Woolmer Green Knebworth, SG3 6JP, United Kingdom

Also known as a 'Blue Christmas' service, this will be a quiet service where we will have an opportunity to hold before God any sadness that we feel at this time of the year, especially if we have lost loved ones. We'll listen to some music and hear poems and readings, and it will be an opportunity to quietly remember any loved ones who have died, whether that was recently or not.

St Michael's Woolmer Green

St Michael's Woolmer Green is a friendly village church that welcomes everyone. We have regular family services and strong relationships with our village school. Our Sunday worship at 11:15am  is usually accompanied by the organ and a small choir. We have eucharistic services three times a month (1st, 3rd and 4th Sundays) and a family service which is more informal on the second Sunday of the month. If there is a 5th Sunday, we usually have a service of morning prayer. We are looking for opportunities to serve our wider community and show the love of God in practical ways, and are always happy to welcome newcomers into our midst.

Safeguarding

Our parish of Welwyn & Woolmer Green is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of St.Albans’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Rachel Wadey: [email protected] (07929492188) or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor: Jeremy Hirst: [email protected] (01727 818107). If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
