About Us

St John's church South-Hatfield , is a unique A-frame building which can be seen for miles around and named in honour of St John. The location is right on top of the hill in South Hatfield, just across Bishops Rise from the College Lane Campus of the University of Hertfordshire.

Our congregation is diverse and very friendly. We welcome all people, whether local resident, student, or visitor, old or young, national or international, and trust that you will enjoy your time with us as we worship the Almighty God together.

Our Vicar is Revd. Laura Bechervaise and our reader is Mrs Viv Marlow.

Our Wardens are John Hydon and Jean Bailey.

The parish of Bishop's Hatfield Saint John is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of St.Albans’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
