St Mary the Virgin

As the Church of England parish church, we are available for all the people of Cheshunt. Many people at very different stages of life and belief discover through the church how God relates to ordinary life. We try to cater both for those who come occasionally, for those who come regularly and for newcomers. Christians have worshipped here since St Mary's was first built some 600 years ago, although there is evidence of an older church building, dedicated to St John the Baptist, on the site of our present day church.

Generations of people have adapted the building for its main purpose - to be the focus and base for our church’s mission in Cheshunt. We exist to discover the love of God revealed in the world. By worship, prayer, teaching and service we seek to point to that love most especially made known in the person of Jesus Christ. We work closely with the three other churches in the Cheshunt Team Ministry, St Clement's, Turnford, St James', Goffs Oak, and Christ Church, Waltham Cross.

Safeguarding

Our parish of Cheshunt is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of St.Albans’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO, Mrs Victoria Clarke on 07803 203438, or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor by clicking on the button below . If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services
