Marriage is a gift from God, and one of the greatest joys of life. Jesus Christ was present at a wedding in Cana in Galilee, where he performed his first miracle, changing water into wine. Christians believe that marriage is a lifelong commitment of mutual love and respect, mirroring the love that God has for his people.
At St Mary's we are very keen to provide proper preparation for couples who come here to be married. We look forward to helping you plan both your wedding day and the rest of your married life together, and hope to support you not only in the short-term, but also in the long-term if, after your wedding, you remain in the parish.
The Church of England has an extremely comprehensive website which you may find helpful in planning your wedding: www.yourchurchwedding.org
If you are considering getting married in St Mary's, you should in the first instance contact the Parish Office. They will explain the law as it applies to your marriage and will discuss the logistics involved in a Wedding Service in church.
