Throughout the year we will be having Taizé style services at St Mary’s, please monitor our website and Facebook page for dates as well as the “Taizé in London” Facebook page.
Taizé is an ecumenical Christian community in France with a special devotion to ecumenical work, peace and justice. The Taizé community has developed a characteristic style of worship that involves chants in different languages and periods of silence. It’s a contemplative form of worship and there is normally no Eucharist during the service.
Taizé is one of the largest Christian pilgrim sites in Europe with around 100,000 visitors each year. People come to stay at Taizé for a week and participate in daily prayer, workshops and meetings. The community was founded in the beginning of the Second World War by Br Roger. Please see the links below for more information about the community.
We aim to have Taizé services 3 times per year; one during Lent, one in August and one during Advent.
If you want to help with singing or playing an instrument and are familiar with the Taizé repertoire please do let us know.
