When were forced to close our little church in March 2020, it began to seem as if we might never open again. Not only did Covid-19 prove to be a deadly pandemic that claimed many lives, but we were unable to meet the strict health restrictions that were imposed after the first lockdown was lifted. In such a tiny church it's virtually impossible to keep a two metre distance from anyone else. Thus, when other churches were able to reopen with social distancing measures in place, our doors had to remain firmly shut.
Furthermore, we had no vicar because our Rector had retired in October 2019. However, we were extremely fortunate that our reader, Dr Barry Price, continued to support all Cottered and Throcking parishioners throughout the closure. We finally opened our doors for services again last week, when Barry led a celebration of Harvest Festival.
Our previous pattern of services will now resume with a communion service on the 3rd Sunday of every month, except December when there will instead be a simple service on Christmas Day. We look forward to welcoming you back to our beautiful and historic church!
