Food Share is slightly different to a food bank because the donations come directly from food retail. The donations are food that have a sell-by date of that day on them, but that are still edible.
With our food share project we do help those who are in some financial need, but it is not just for those in need. Food Share is different from a food bank because it's for absolutely everyone. As well as helping those who need a hand, we are all doing our bit for the environment by eating food that would otherwise go to landfill!

St Mary's Therfield

You are warmly invited to join us at St. Mary's, Therfield. We are a Church of England church where people of all faiths, and of none, are welcomed and loved. Our Christian worship and values lead us to love our neighbour and serve our community as Jesus taught us.

We are a small, friendly church community who welcomes everyone. Whether you have been a member of our church for years or you are searching for a new place to join with CoE worship or thinking about coming to church for the first time, we welcome you!

We are your church

Come as you are- Whether you come alone or with someone, you will be welcomed by us and we'd love to meet you. We can be a place to see friends, to meet new people or a place to find peace and solace.

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

Bring the all family- We may be small but we are mighty! We run children's activities every week at our 10:30am service. Emily and Jenny will welcome you, share stories, games and activities for anyone 3 years old upwards. Very young children and babies are welcome with their parents/carers to play with toys at any point during the service.

“Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

Services:

Sunday worship - 10:30am (see What's On for more information)

Children's Church- 10:30am during the service.

Refreshments are served after every service.

We occasionally join with St Faith's, Kelshall to worship together at our Benefice Services (see Services and Events).

More details on the 'Services and Events' page in the left hand menu.

Foodshare:

Every Sunday from 10:00am we run a Foodshare service. Donated by Tesco, fresh produce is available in the porch for anyone who would like it. It helps with the bills and the environment to reduce food waste. If you are able, we take donations for Christian Aid.

Life Events - Weddings, Baptisms and Funerals:

Your church is here for you in times of joy and sorrow. If you are interested in finding out about having your wedding at St Mary's, or a Christening, or the funeral of a loved one, please be in touch.

Safeguarding

The parish of Therfield is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). The Diocese of St.Albans’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA.
