St Mary the Virgin

Welcome to St Mary's!

We are a friendly, parish church in the beautiful North Hertfordshire village of Ashwell.

Our main Sunday service is at 10:45am, and is a traditional Anglican Parish Communion on most Sundays. On the first Sunday of the month we have a more informal All Age Service, which we call Thank God it's Sunday. Our Sunday morning services are always followed by tea & coffee, and we greatly enjoy this time of fellowship and welcome! (An earlier Sunday service in our Benefice is available at St Nicholas' Hinxworth, at 9:15am).

We also have an evening service at 5pm each week. On the first Sunday of the month, this is Holy Communion, on the third Sunday it is a Sacred Space service and the other Sundays tend to be BCP Evening Prayer or Evensong, depending on whether the choir and musicians are available.

For those who can't attend physically you can join us on Zoom on a Sunday morning, via our Zoom church

(If you can’t use the link, you can use the Meeting ID: 848 3055 8684 Passcode: 277646)

St Mary's is open every day, during daylight hours, so that you can visit our wonderful historic church and spend time praying in the beautiful space. The Ashwell Food Pantry is also available when the church is open.

Safeguarding

Our parish of St Mary's, Ashwell is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of St.Albans’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO.

If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO, Jo Adams, or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (please see link below for contact details). If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
