An Easter Message from St Michael’sChocolate’s great, isn’t it. I love an Easter Egg, and indeed a Hot Cross Bun. It’s uplifting to see the signs of Spring after a long dreary winter, too. Daffodils, tulips and blossom on the trees all raise the spirits. Signs of new life like fluffy yellow chicks and cute baby rabbits warm our hearts after the cold. There’s much more to Easter, though, than treats, flowers and bunnies, if we’re up for it. A new, eternal kind of life that doesn’t just regenerate in March, but lasts for ever. A victory over hatred, evil and death that doesn’t just make us smile, but can turn our lives around. A spiritual feast that goes on nourishing our souls long after the chocolate is all gone. If you’d like to taste some of that, you’ll be very welcome to join us as we journey towards Christ’s resurrection on Easter Day. Do come to any of the services overleaf that you’d like to. And may God’s gift of new life bless you this year, and into the future.Derwyn Williams, VicarSt Michael’s, Bishops Stortford
Held weekly in the Windhill Churches Centre, Tiny Tots is for parents/carers and babies/preschoolers in term time; and older children/siblings are very welcome during inset days and school holidays. We start with playtime and tea/coffee, then songs, stories, activities and a prayer. There’s easy buggy access and baby change facilities, and you’re welcome to bring a packed lunch if you like. It’s also ok to be late, we understand! We look forward to welcoming you soon!
We would like to offer an Open Invitation to everyone at St Michael’s plus all our friends in the local community to come along on that day to celebrate this momentous occasion. Some of us of a certain age will remember the 1953 Coronation and so you are, therefore, asked to bring along any memorabilia of royal occasions for us all to view and recall. For £2 you will be able to enjoy a delicious selection of cakes with tea/coffee and soft drinks, culminating in a glass of fizz as we raise our glasses to King Charles. You’ll be invited to take part in our regular low-key activities which includes a table quiz, creating much fun and laughter whilst testing your general knowledge, plus our usual bring and buy stall (with super bargains) and wide selection of greetings cards. Just as important also are our Church services around that time as detailed below:- Sunday 7th May8am Holy Communion10am Service of the Word Sunday 14th May10am Holy Communion6pm Festal Choral Evensong in Thanksgiving for the Coronation of King Charles IIIPreacher: The Rt Rev’d Dr Jane Mainwaring, The Bishop of Hertford We will be praying for the King at all services culminating in the worship at 6pm on the 14th May.
