Friends of St Peter's

The Friends of St Peter's provide vital support for the maintenance of our beautiful church building, for the benefit of the whole village.

Grade 1 Listed, St Peter's Church dates back to the 13th Century and its most recent restoration dates back almost 170 years to 1855. The church carries its years well but inevitably there are a number of running and more significant repairs which are needed from time to time. The Friends recently provided funds to support the cost of repairs to the floor of the Tofte Chapel. Over recent years we have also helped with the cost of a French drain and treating dampness in the south wall, and water ingress into the roof area adjoining St Peter’s Room.

The Friends of St Peter’s is a group of non-denominational supporters – some are Anglicans, others Roman Catholic and some of no faith all, but we all aim to keep this valuable building in good repair and available for future generations.

The easiest and most fun way to support our efforts is by joining the Lottery which we run within the village, for just £25 per year. In return there’s a chance to win one of our monthly prizes of £50 or £100 and in August our “bonus month”, there are five £100 prizes to be won.

Details about how to join the Friends of St Peter's Lottery are in the attached application form. For more details about the work of the Friends, please contact Paul Monk on 01234 782149.

The Friends of St Peter's Church is a Registered Charity No 1062598.
