The Triduum a.k.a. THE TIME MACHINE

Occurring
for 2 days, 13 hours
Venue
Holy Trinity, Roehampton
Address
Ponsonby Road Roehampton London SW15 4LA, SW15 4LA, United Kingdom

This year we are going back to the future. Instead of a Maundy Thursday service, a Good Friday service, and an Easter service, we have one service lasting sixty hours, with two big breaks.

What's this all about? Well:

The most terrible, wonderful and world-changing events in history happened two thousand years ago. O that we were there, as we sing in the carol; but we were not.

We can, however, enter into those great days, as the church has always done, by the keeping the three days of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday as a single observance. We remember and celebrate the events at the time and on the day when they happened.

Thus on Maundy Thursday we start at 7.30, and after the Last Supper, Foot Washing and a Vigil we go our separate ways but still together in spirit.

On Good Friday we return to the building after the ecumenical Walk of Witness (starting about 12.30 at Minstead Gardens Methodist Church) and pick up the story again remembering the crucifixion - that segment lasts from 1.45 to 2.45 (to fit in with the Liturgy at St Joseph's RC Church).

On Sunday we gather again just before 6am to conclude the service, lighting the new fire, bringing light and life back into the Church, welcoming the risen Lord, and renewing our baptismal vows. Breakfast to follow!

Safeguarding

Church should be a place where everyone is safe, and free to know God as he reveals himself in Christ.

Usually this hope is realised. But sometimes, a child, young person, vulnerable adult, or someone else, can be harmed by another person in Church. If this has happened to you, or if you are afraid it is happening or may happen, please do not keep this to yourself.

We want to hear what you have to say. We will listen carefully, with respect, and without judging. And we will make sure appropriate action is taken in line with best practice.

If you are happy to do so, please contact the Parish Safeguarding Officer, or the Vicar, or the Curate - contact details available on the church safeguarding page https://www.holytrinityroehampton.org/safeguarding/.

On the other hand, if you prefer, Holy Trinity Roehampton is part of the Diocese of Southwark, and you can always contact the Diocesan safeguarding team. Or telephone on 020 7939 9423 (office hours), 020 3874 6743 (out of hours).
