About Us
St Michael's Eggington (originally spelt Egginton), is a quintessentially English village church set in a large, attractive, churchyard in the centre of the village near to the former village pub. Its origins go back perhaps a thousand years, although the present building is an amalgam of styles as it has suffered change and renewal down the ages. The nave is 14th century. The church was badly damaged by fire in the mid 19th century and then restored.
It was once a chapel of ease to Leighton Buzzard.
St Michael's is now a parish church and part of the Ouzel Valley Team Ministry.
A 'Friends' organisation, SMILE (St Michael's in the Life of Eggington) has recently been formed with the aims of raising funds for the church fabric and restoring the church building's place at the heart of village life. For information on how you can be part of SMILE, please contact Mrs Angie Conlon, Osborn Cottage, Eggington, LU7 9PQ
