St Helen

St Helen's Church is the Parish Church of Wheathampstead and has a sister-Church, St Peters, at Gustard Wood. All are welcome to visit and to join us in Sunday worship and social activities. We provide a variety of services to suit different tastes and for everyone to grow to be part of the Christian family. Please have a look at the services page or our website http://www.sth-stp.org for details. We hope you find that what we offer suits you and your family.

There is always something happening in St Helen's Church - the Community Coffee Shop is open in the chancel Monday, Tuesday (term time) and on Saturday mornings (all year), and a busy parents-and-tots group runs on Wednesday mornings. Bell ringers and a youth- and adult- choir practice in church in the evenings. Off site, we hold study and fellowship groups. Visit us to find out more!

Our churches are also important to the wider neighbourhood. The churchyard at St Helen’s is still open for burials. Remembrance Sunday and other seasonal services are important civic occasions in the village.

Our Ministerial Team consists of The Revd. Richard Banham (Rector) and 2 Readers. We are also fortunate to have retired clergy in the village who play an active role in our church life.

Safeguarding

The parish of Wheathampstead is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of St.Albans’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
