Welcome to St Mary's Church, a friendly Anglican community on Watford High Street.

Our beautiful church building is located in the heart of Watford, where the church has been the spiritual centre of the town for over 800 years. Today it is home to a diverse, vibrant group of ordinary people who are discovering that Jesus Christ is relevant to the lives of adults and children in the 21st century.  We are an inclusive church and welcome anyone of any race, colour or sexuality.  

Currently, we have no Vicar - our last one left us in the summer of 2024 for pastures new so we are in a Vacancy and hoping to appoint a new Vicar in 2025. In the meantime our Sunday Morning Worship is led by visiting clergy or by lay members of the congregation.

Our Service on Sunday mornings at 10.30 am is both in-person and on-line. There are spaces for at least 100 people in church so please do come along and join us in person. If you wish to join us on-line please ask for Zoom joining instructions ([email protected]).

St Mary's Church is open for private prayer from Monday to Friday each week between 9.30 am and 3.00 pm and on  Saturdays each week between 12.00noon and 2.00 pm.  There is a Service of the Word on Wednesdays at 12.30pm.  If you are coming from a distance or on a particular day, please do check the times before you come.

The parish of Watford is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). The Diocese of St Albans’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSO. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
