Church Roof Repairs - fundraising drive

The lovely church of St Peter and St Paul has been part of our village of Runham since the 14 th Century.

However, time has taken its toll. The church was most recently brought back into village life after its last renovation 20 years ago. Since then the church has continued to function, hosting not only regular church services including christenings, weddings and funerals, but also concerts, carol services, holiday clubs and many other social events.

Sadly, over recent decades, Runham has lost its school, its shop and its pub – though by dint of extremely generous time and effort, the local residents have succeeded in keeping this beautiful old building in excellent working order, so that it continues to watch over the village that still cares for it.

The march of time is relentless, however, and after a recent full architectural inspection the prognosis was not good. The list of problems (including repairs needed to parts of the roof) indicated that urgent action is needed, with the total bill likely to be in the region of £160,000. The Church Council hopes to raise as much of half of the bill through grants – leaving the remainder to be met from donations, supported by a creative and varied programme of community events. So, over the next few months you will see things starting to happen. There will be signs and notices appearing around the village and on social media platforms - with ‘Calls to Alms’ (pun intended!)

So, for this beautiful church to remain the village guardian it once again desperately needs your generous help - both by your support for the events that take place, and by any donation that you can make.

We thank God that Runham church has been here for a long time, and with your help, it will continue to be a place of peace, inspiration and worship for future generations in this lovely rural village.

Please be assured, all gifts great or small will be gratefully received and put to great use.  Cheques may be made payable to "The Parish Church of St Peter & Paul " and passed to the vicar or churchwarden. We look forward to hearing from you!

With our sincere thanks and very best wishes Phil Rodd (Team Vicar) & Bobbie Walsh (Churchwarden
