A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols

A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is a service which was first introduced in 1918 at King's College, Cambridge, to bring a more imaginative approach to worship. The choirs of Holy Trinity Utrecht and Anglican Church Zwolle will combine to bring this service to life in Utrecht and in Zwolle on 22 and 15 December respectively.

The service includes readings from the Bible. The opening carol is always 'Once in Royal David's City', and 'O come all ye faithful' and 'Hark! The Herald Angels sing' are always sung at the end of the service.
