Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, a season of self-examination, repentance and preparation for Easter. Since the Middle Ages, Christians have observed the start of Lent by having their foreheads marked in ash with the sign of the cross as a gesture of penitence and a recognition of mortality. This said Eucharist will include the imposition of ashes and last about forty minutes. Everyone is very welcome.
