Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent and the lead up to Easter. It is called ‘Ash Wednesday’ because Lent is a time when people are sorry for the wrong things in their lives and ashes are used in the Bible as a sign of sadness.
We include a special part in our Ash Wednesday service called 'ashing.' As a way of showing sorrow for wrong things done, and as a reminder that all die, the priest makes a sign of the cross in ashes on the forehead of each person. The ashes are usually made from burning palm crosses that were kept from Palm Sunday the previous year.

Welcome to St Mary Magdalene Church at Tanworth-in-Arden. 

Our church reopened in June 2022 after major internal work which has transformed the back of the church.  We now have a beautiful, accessible, functional space to run some services, activities and events.  We also have improved toilet and kitchen facilities.
