The church hall suffered severe damage in early 2021, and since then, has suffered further damage through vandalism including arson. The Parochial Church Council has, with recent support from the Diocese, been doing lots of planning work towards restoration.
The structural engineer has completed his initial report, which we have examined, with guidance from a Diocesan official. We're waiting for details of estimated costs, and we hope to receive this information very soon- this will allow us to go out to tender, and start applying for grants, focusing on the awarding bodies that are most likely to assist us.
Meanwhile, our own local fundraising efforts are continuing briskly. The Art Exhibition on two successive weekends in September raised £1290.44 towards the hall restoration fund. We hope to have further events, including a supper with after-dinner speaker, on 19 October; a modified Christmas Tree Festival on the Sundays in December, before Christmas; and a Christmas Bingo in Baddesley Social Club on 5 December.
