On Ascension Day, we gather at St. Alban the Martyr, in the heart of Highgate, Birmingham. Our Ascension liturgy is a tapestry of ancient words and modern hearts. At its core we commemorate the Ascension of the Lord. We imagine ourselves on that hillside, gazing upward as Christ ascends, leaving us watching. The mystery of it fills the air—the tension between absence and presence, departure and promise.

Our church, steeped in the Anglo-Catholic tradition, stands as a beacon of inclusivity and diversity, welcoming all who seek solace and spiritual nourishment.

Music
Mass setting: Ireland in C
Hymns: Hail the day that sees him rise Alleluya!
God everlasting, wonderful and holy (communion),
The head that once was crowned with thorns
Anthem: Lift up your heads - Coleridge-Taylor (offertory)
Marian Anthem: Regina Coeli
Voluntary: Heut' Triumphieret Gottes Sohn BWV630 - J.S. Bach
