Join us for Tuesday Morning Prayer

Everyone is warmly welcome to gather with us on Tuesdays in the choir vestry (please enter through the back door). We share in Morning Prayer from Common Worship and enjoy a relaxed time for open reflection and discussion on the day’s readings, along with extemporary prayer. It’s a lovely chance to connect, reflect, and support one another in faith.

Come for a moment of peace and reflection at our church, open every Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm for private prayer. Whether you’re looking for a quiet space to meditate, reflect, seek solace or just want to have a look around, you are warmly welcomed to visit.

Join us for a peaceful midweek Holy Communion service. Held on most Wednesdays, though occasionally, a traditional service of Morning Prayer may be held instead. This peaceful gathering, using Common Worship, offers a time for reflection and spiritual renewal. Whether you're seeking a moment of calm or a deeper connection, you are welcome to join us.

New members of all skill levels are warmly welcomed! Sessions are £2.50 per adult and £1.50 for under-18s, who must be accompanied by a responsible adult. We aim to meet twice a month—please check back here for upcoming dates. Bats and balls are provided, and you’re welcome to bring along your own drinks and snacks.

A service to remember our baptisms, followed by a bring and share lunch to celebrate Fran Ellis’ 30 years of Reader ministry. Bring your baptism candle to re-light if you have it! And please stay afterwards to celebrate with Fran this milestone in her ministry.

We invite all young people in school years 7-11 to our monthly youth group! Come along for an evening filled with food, creative activities, engaging conversations, and fun games. We meet in the hall where we explore faith together and enjoy each other’s company. All our leaders are DBS checked.

Smethwick Puppetry Festival is back for 2025, and it’s going to be even bigger and better than 2024! There will be some wonderful puppet shows for families, performances for adults, puppetry workshops, exhibitions and more, all taking place across 10 community venues, including St Hilda's, during February half term.

Our story began 10000 years ago, in an icy fjord of the northernmost island. Here, giants still roamed the land. The youngest of them played with pebbles on the beach. One was thrown too far, a powerful sea troll woke, a gigantic wave rose… And Bjorna was gone. Time passed, miners moved to the fjord. The mining started. Digging and drilling, deeper and deeper, until - with an ear-splitting boom, an earth-splitting quake! Something truly unexpected emerged from the hill!

Everyone is welcome as we talk about faith, learning together. Every other month will be a topic to help us think about a practical element of our faith, and the other will be exploring a topic that can be seen as taboo.

From spring through autumn, we invite volunteers to help tend the church front gardens on the first Saturday of each month, weather permitting. Whether you're an experienced gardener or just curious to give it a try, you’re warmly welcome to join us for all or part of a session! Some bring their own tools, while others use those we provide at the church—either way, your help makes a difference.

The service will be led by women from local churches, creating a beautiful sense of unity and shared purpose.

Come and be inspired by voices from the Cook Islands and our own local community, all are welcome.

If you can spare some time on Saturday 8th March please come down to help with this - times to be confirmed. All materials and refreshments will be provided.
