Ascension Stirchley

Welcome to The Ascension Church website, your local Church of England parish church in Stirchley!

We want to be 'good news' in our local neighbourhood and to reflect the faithfulness, generosity and openness of God in whom we believe and encounter in Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to all who are seeking meaning, community and belonging.

We include caring for God's creation as an integral part of our mission in Stirchley and beyond as an Eco Church, as we strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth.

The Church of the Ascension building is open for Sunday worship every week from 9:30am. Our children's choir starts at 9:30am and our main service starts at 10:15am, following by refreshments at 11:15am. There are crafts for children during the main service, and parents can stay with their children, or attend the main service and leave the children in the craft session.

Our worship service is always a Eucharist (Holy Communion) in the Anglo-Catholic tradition. We use a hymn book and a service sheet, which you will be given as you enter the building. The hymn numbers will be displayed on the wall to the right of the stained glass window, so that you know which hymns are coming next!

We share the common cup, alongside sharing bread at the Eucharist. We recognise that not everyone will be comfortable sharing the common cup, and there is absolutely no pressure on anyone to do so. Everyone is invited to take communion, or to have a blessing from the vicar, whichever you prefer.

Please use the 'Contact Us' tab to send prayer requests, or to be included in our praying together.

We also run a weekly stay and play on Thursdays at 9:30am, Place of Welcome on Thursdays at 11am, and a Youth Club on Fridays at 5:30pm. More details of all of these activities can be found on this website.

Safeguarding Information:

Ascension Stirchley is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs.
