About Us

St Matthew's, is the local Anglican Parish Church (Church of England) in Perry Beeches and aims to be a spiritual home and resource for all those living in its neighbourhood and those who choose to come to us for worship. 

We are an inclusive church welcoming people of every age, background, colour, sexuality, gender identity, and experience. We are a mix of people of Christian faith, people exploring their beliefs, and, of course, people who have doubts. There’s always a place and a warm, unconditional welcome waiting for you.

Our call is to open the heart of God's love to all who seek him, and to provide for their needs, with baptism, confirmation, weddings and funerals, house blessings and spiritual and pastoral support.

Our worship is in the 'Modern Catholic' tradition and is dignified but never stuffy. The priest wears coloured vestments according to the Church season, and we use incense at all major celebrations - including our Sunday 10.00am Mass. Children and young people are always welcome, and there is a Sunday School on most Sundays if they wish to take part in that.

Our Buildings:-

St. Matthew is a grade two listed building built in the 1960's designed by Robert Maguire and Keith Murray.
It has Stations of the Cross painted by Nicholas Mynheer; icons by Tatiana Nichita and brasswork by Benjamin Storch.  
We have a small remembrance Garden.

Attached to the Church is the Brooklyn Hall which was originally built as the Church in the Late 1930's, and now serves as an Important community facility.

As part of our hospitality, St Matthew's offers many social facilities:-

Brooklyn Hall, Coffee Lounge and Family Room all available for private functions: dances, parties, celebrations; contact our Administrator on  0121 360 6964 during Office hours.

Regular activities include Children's dancing; Mother and Toddlers group; Indoor Bowls; Zumba;  Pilates;  Women's Institute, Guides, Brownies & Rainbows meet during the week. Details: 360 6964 (Mon-Fri 9am - 2 pm).
