Vigil on Holy Saturday evening, Lighting of Holy Fire, Exsultet, Homily & First Mass of Easter

Occurring
for 1 hour, 15 mins
Venue
Mitcham, St Peter & St Paul - Mitcham Parish Church
Address
Church Road Mitcham, CR4 3BP, United Kingdom

As we wait in the darkness, we hear of God's promises to us to save us all -and we symbolically light a fire from which the great Easter Candle is lit and processed through the church, spreading light as it goes. This symbol of the Resurrection of Jesus stands amidst us as we joyfully celebrate the Fist Mass and receive our first Communion of Easter Day.
Alleluia! Christ is Risen! He is Risen, indeed! Alleluia!
Celebration Refreshments (and possibly a firework!) follow this Service.

The parish of Mitcham: St Peter & St Paul is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Southwark’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
