Advent Quiet Events

The ‘Christmas Rush’ seems to start earlier each
year, and for many of us just adds to our already hectic life, so in the four weeks before Christmas, known as ‘Advent’ we offer an oasis of quiet and calm to help relieve some of the pressure.

Our free quiet day and quiet morning provide a relaxed atmosphere in which to think and reflect about our lives and the true meaning of Christmas.

Both events offer short talks, opportunities for silence and prayer, craft activities and books to read during the silence for those who wish. Please feel free to bring your own craft activity or book to read, if you prefer.

We invite to join us for these quiet events

Ipswich, St Thomas the Apostle

We are a welcoming, friendly Church in North West Ipswich. As the local Parish Church we seek to serve all in our community and welcome enquiries about baptisms, weddings and funerals as well as just asking to have a chat with the Priest-in-Charge. Everyone is welcome to join us for our worship, social gatherings or groups. We have a regular pattern of prayer at which we pray for our neighbourhood, town and the world, and we welcome prayer requests. Our Sunday worship includes the celebration of communion, we enjoy singing, a mixture of traditional and modern hymns.

The parish of St Thomas is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of St. Edmundsbury & Ipswich’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
