On Sunday 26th January 2020, the Revd Paul Hutchinson was licensed as the new priest in charge of St Neots and Eynesbury by the Bishop of Huntingdon, the Right Revd Dagmar Winter. They are pictured with our rural dean, Canon Grant Fellows. Members of Fr Paul’s old parish at Stokesley, in the north of York Diocese, were also present; as were local clergy and parishioners, and longstanding friends from parts of Cambridgeshire and further afield. It was a wonderful service, and celebrated with Prosecco and cake in great style. Everyone is looking forward to getting to know Paul, his wife, Alison and their two sons.
Friday Food was nominated for a community inspiration award sponsored by Chorus Homes and the Hunts Post, and we were thrilled to win the award in the Community Group category.Beginning only one year ago with just two 'guests', we now cater for as many as 25 friends who enjoy the food, the friendship and chat with everyone in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We meet every Friday from 6pm in the Church Room behind the church. We are supported by 'Fareshare' through which we are able to collect food that would otherwise be wasted by supermarkets Tesco and Waitrose, who also make generous donations to, for example, our special Christmas meal. We are also fortunate to receive generous donations from Greggs bakery, and our friends are able to take food away with them to keep them going over the weekend.Volunteers willing to cook or serve the food are welcome to come along any Friday and meet everyone. Anyone in real need is welcome to come and eat with us.
Led by Rev'd Rosemary Maskell, a group from St. Neots has just returned from Assisi after a week following in the footsteps of St. Francis as they visited key sites in his life - San Damiano, where he heard God calling him to rebuild His church; the Hermitage where Francis walked in the woods, praying and worshipping with his followers and marvelling at God's creation; the Basilica of St. Francis, prominent on the hillside and visited by many thousands every year. Each day began with Eucharist and ended with Compline, and everyone came home refreshed spiritually and invigorated in their faith.
