We are delighted to announce that the Bishop of Southwark and Keble College Oxford, as Patron, and in consultation with the Bishop of Fulham and the parish representatives, have appointed The Revd Philip Kennedy as the next Vicar of Lavender Hill, The Ascension and Battersea, St. Philip with St. Bartholomew subject to satisfactory completion of the necessary procedures.
Fr Philip is currently Associate Vicar of St Bartholomew’s, Brighton, before which he was Assistant Curate at St Michael’s, Croydon.
His final Sunday in Brighton will be Sunday 5th September 2021. His Institution and Induction will take place at The Ascension Lavender Hill on Monday 25th October 2021.
Born and brought up in Northern Ireland, Fr Philip read Music at Cambridge with a choral scholarship at Gonville and Caius College. He spent a year as a pastoral assistant in North London before training for ordination at St Stephen’s House, Oxford. He is a keen musician in his spare time and a member of two London chamber choirs.
This appointment marks a return to the Diocese for Fr Philip, who is looking forward to ministering at Lavender Hill, building on the faithful ministry exercised by the late Fr Iain Young and to meeting new opportunities and challenges as we emerge from the pandemic.
