Places of Welcome is a growing network of hospitality, run by local community groups who want to make sure that everyone in their area has a place to go for a friendly face, a cup of tea and a conversation.
At St Helen's, we are currently re-assessing how best to be a 'Place of Welcome', previously held on a Saturday morning. We want our friendly church volunteers to offer a warm welcome to everyone who comes into church, with refreshments served free of charge. And have easily available information about the church building and church activities, as well as information about the local area and local community groups.
Our 'Place of Welcome' will relaunch on THURSDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER between 10.00 am and 12 noon and meet weekly.
'Coffee Pot' once a month on a Saturday morning has given local charities the opportunity to advertise themselves and to undertake modest fund-raising activities. But the pandemic intervened and we are re-assessing how best to re-start this, too.
This Summer 'Tea at the Tower' is taking place every Saturday morning, which is an opportunity for members of the public to visit the tower as well as to enjoy hospitality in the form of a cup of tea & cake. Developing opportunities like this is an important objective for us.
