St. Helen's Curry night for Christian Aid

Church_news

On the Friday night  of Christian Aid week there was an excellent Curry Night, which drew the crowds and raised £623. Again, a real team effort from those who cooked and those who served, and a great social occasion. Since then Christian Aid has let us know that when Cyclone Freddie hit Africa in March one of the pigeon pea farmers in the video, Jen, lost the equivalent of two bags of yield, worth at least £79. She had planned to use this money to pay the school fees for the second of her two sons. For Africans climate change means extremes of weather with torrential rain and floods following drought. St Helen’s Christian Aid Week envelope collection amounted to £342.08 and hopefully the whole week will top a thousand with the odd envelope still to be returned.
