In November 2021, the PCC invited twenty masters and 3rd year students from NUA with their tutors to visit St Mary’s and to collaborate on several future projects.

One outcome was a course assignment to design facilities for a toilet, kitchen and meeting space and also a covered, outdoor space for worship, life services and community gatherings – an idea conceived in response to local needs for a communal space and also the recent pandemic’s restrictions on indoor meetings and the consequent social problems caused by isolation.

Kelling PCC sponsored NUA’s Department of Architecture for travel and student awards. The students presented their ideas in the church in April this year and it was lovely that so many people came from the village and further afield to hear and see their ideas.

The PCC are committed to developing the church and churchyard for the use of the wider community.  Please contact Tim Griffin, Chair of The Friends of St Mary's with any ideas and contributions you may have.
