Come and join us either in person or on the live stream for the Parish Mass tomorrow when we celebrate the Assumption of Our Lady into heaven (the feast is in fact on 15 August, but we transfer it to the nearest Sunday). The doctrine of the Assumption of Mary is a very ancient one, brought to Rome, it is thought, by Jewish Christians in the 2nd century. Because of her unique place in the work of salvation through Our Lord Jesus Christ, it is believed in both the western and eastern Christian traditions that Mary did not see death in the way that other human beings do. However, hers was not the first Assumption: the great prophets Moses, Enoch and Elijah were also taken up into heaven. So we celebrate the greatest woman who has ever lived on this earth, and rejoice that she is not only the Mother of God, but our Mother also. After Mass we will continue our celebrations with a glass of fizz at the back of church, and all are welcome!

St Michael & All Angels

St Michael and all Angels' is a friendly multicultural church located in the heart of Walthamstow, very close to the vibrant high street.

We are currently in interregnum at St Michael's but are looking forward to our new full-time priest very, very soon.

We would like to thank Fr. Alex Summers and his family for their hard work and for bringing the community together in the 6 years they were with us.

Please pop in and join us at one of our services. You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram @stmichaelstow.

God Bless
