Come and join us on Wednesday 9 August on the eve of the feast of St Laurence. He was born on 31 December 225 AD inHuesca (modern-day Spain) into a Christian family and met Pope Sixtus II in Caesaraugusta (now Zaragoza). He was ordained deacon in Rome in 257 AD and entrusted with the treasury of the Church and distribution of alms to the poor and needy. The Emperor Valerian ordered that all bishops, priests and deacons should be immediately executed, and Laurence with six other deacons was killed on 10 August 258 AD, four days after Pope Sixtus himself was executed. It is highly unlikely that he was roasted to death on a gridiron, but more likely that he was decapitated as per the Emperor's command.

St Michael & All Angels

St Michael and all Angels' is a friendly multicultural church located in the heart of Walthamstow, very close to the vibrant high street.

We are currently in interregnum at St Michael's but are looking forward to our new full-time priest very, very soon.

We would like to thank Fr. Alex Summers and his family for their hard work and for bringing the community together in the 6 years they were with us.

Please pop in and join us at one of our services. You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram @stmichaelstow.

God Bless
