Morning Prayer and Holy Rosary for the feast of St Augustine of Hippo

Occurring
for 45 mins
Venue
St Michael & All Angels
Address
Northcote Road/Palmerston Road WALTHAMSTOW, LONDON., E17 6PQ, United Kingdom

St Augustine was brought up as a Christian but was not baptised. He studied rhetoric at Carthage University to become a lawyer, but gave that idea up and devoted himself to teaching and study. Through these studies, particularly of Plato and Manichaeism he gave up Christianity. Augustine moved to Rome to teach rhetoric, rejected Manichaeism and came under the influence of St Ambrose (339-97 AD, bishop of Milan). He describes his interior conflict in the famous 'Confessions'. He was converted and baptised in 386 AD and became Bishop of Hippo in AD 395. His many writings were hugely influential in the history of Christian thought. Come and join us either in person or on the livestream to celebrate his life.

St Michael & All Angels

St Michael and all Angels' is a friendly multicultural church located in the heart of Walthamstow, very close to the vibrant high street.

We are currently in interregnum at St Michael's but are looking forward to our new full-time priest very, very soon.

We would like to thank Fr. Alex Summers and his family for their hard work and for bringing the community together in the 6 years they were with us.

Please pop in and join us at one of our services. You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram @stmichaelstow.

God Bless
