Come and join us tomorrow 29 May as we celebrate the life of Lanfranc, an Italian Benedictine, born in Pavia in 1005, who was a trusted counsellor of William the Conqueror and a great reformer. He was a lawyer before he renounced that career to become a monk at Bec in Normandy. As Archbishop of Canterbury he introduced a set of Constitutions in 1077, as a result of which liturgical and monastic life conformed more closely with that of mainland Europe. He died at Canterbury in 1089.
