Come and join us this morning either in person or on the livestream at 10.00 a.m. for Morning Prayer and Holy Rosary, celebrating the feast of Ss Philip and James. Philip was born in Bethsaida, and became an early disciple of Jesus after following John the Baptist; he also persuaded Nathanael to follow Jesus too. In the gospel of John, he is the apostle approached by the Greeks who want to meet Jesus. It is likely that he preached the Gospel in Phrygia (now part of Turkey) and died at Hierapolis (centre of the Phrygian cult centre of the mother goddess Cybele and later a Greek city) where he was buried. James (son of Alphaeus, called the Less to distinguish him from James son of Zebedee) is identified with the James whose mother stood by Christ on the Cross, and also with the 'brother of the Lord' who saw the risen Christ and is called the first bishop of Jerusalem. The relics of both saints were translated to Rome and buried together on 1 May AD 560.

St Michael & All Angels

St Michael and all Angels' is a friendly multicultural church located in the heart of Walthamstow, very close to the vibrant high street.

We are currently in interregnum at St Michael's but are looking forward to our new full-time priest very, very soon.

We would like to thank Fr. Alex Summers and his family for their hard work and for bringing the community together in the 6 years they were with us.

Please pop in and join us at one of our services. You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram @stmichaelstow.

God Bless
