St Michael's has supported Haven House Children's Hospice for some years through our collections at Mass. They provide a very important ministry to terminally ill children, their parents, carers and guardians. Their fund-raising is a crucial part of their finances through their activities and shops. Due to the crisis, this income stream has suddenly and completely dried up, and they urgently need funds to keep open. You may not know, but they are only 20% funded by the Government. Please give what you can via their website: https://havenhouse.org.uk/appeal/emergencyappeal, and help Haven House to continue its important work in our neighbourhood! Many thanks!
We were delighted to welcome Bishop Norman to celebrate Mass for us on Sunday, and conduct a Baptism and five Confirmations during the Mass. He was kept very busy as he also blessed our new Book of Gospels. One of our confirmation candidates is also going forward as a new server so will be trained up by our serving team over the next few weeks. After Mass we celebrated with a Bring and Share lunch in St Michael's Social Club - the Hall is still being refurbished in preparation for the Early Education Centre nursery which will be starting in the New Year.
<div></div>A wonderful heating engineer came to fix our heating system, such that the church is now warm! For those who froze during the past two weeks, apologies. For those who wish to come to our amazing neo-Gothic gem, you will not freeze any more.
