East Mersea: St Edmund

Our Church is a friendly welcoming church which receives visitors from all over the world, as our Visitor's Book can testify.  Situated as we are in a holiday area with four sizable Holiday Parks within walking distance we get a lot of people dropping in and they are always interested in the history of the building, the construction of which spans many centuries.  Our first recorded incumbent was installed in about 1200CE.

Safeguarding

Our parish of East Mersea: St Edmund is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies, which can be found at https://www.churchofengland.org/more/safeguarding, and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO) Peter Inson (insonpeter0@gmail.com). Our Diocese of Chelmsford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO or the Diocesan Safeguarding Duty Number, 01245 29 44 44. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
