MASS OF THE LORD'S SUPPER, STRIPPING OF THE ALTARS, & VIGIL BEFORE THE ALTAR OF REPOSE

Occurring
for 1 hour, 15 mins
Venue
St. Agnes Kennington Park
Address
St Agnes Place Kennington, SE11 4BB, United Kingdom

Recalling the intimacy of the Upper Room, we remember how, after washing his disciples' feet, Jesus gave us the New Commandment to love one another as he has loved us. We recall how he gave himself to us, instituting the most holy Sacrament of the Eucharist. The service tonight includes the ritual of foot washing, and at the end of Mass, the Church is darkened, and the Altars are stripped, and the Blessed Sacrament is taken to the Altar of Repose, where in the dim light of candles, we watch with Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane.

St. Agnes Kennington Park

St. Agnes is a friendly Church of England (Anglican) parish church in the Diocese of Southwark. We committed to proclaiming Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour; our faith and worship are in the Anglo – Catholic tradition, and we are under the pastoral and sacramental care of the Bishop of Fulham, The Rt. Revd. Jonathan Baker.

Our central act of worship is The Mass, (The Eucharist, Holy Communion) wherein we proclaim and celebrate all that God has done for us in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Please know that you are warmly invited to any and all of our services.
