Kennington, St John the Divine

An Anglican parish in the catholic tradition. Our community is rich in its diversity and open to all, regardless of race, gender, sexuality or background.

Our main Parish Mass is at 10.30am  on Sundays, and we hold services and events throughout the week.

We run several groups, for all ages, which help us to deepen our faith, support each other and build friendships within our community.

Music has been at the heart of worship for many years. We have several choirs, involving over eighty children and thirty adults, who sing for our Masses and Evensongs. We have a partnership with St John's College Cambridge, and our children's choirs attend a residential summer school there every July, and they help to fund organ scholarships at St John the Divine for our young people.

As part of our outreach to the local community, we host the Robes Project winter shelter, and we are actively engaged in London Citizens, working with other community organisations to build a more just society.

We have two church schools, Saint John the Divine Primary School and Saint Gabriel's College, which are very much a part of our service to the community.

We look forward to welcoming you.

This parish takes safeguarding and care of children and vulnerable adults extremely seriously. Our safeguarding policy can be found here.

‘The Diocese of Southwark is committed to the safeguarding of children young people and adults and for many years this commitment has been at the heart of our work across the parishes. As a result we have developed polices, procedures and training at all levels of the Diocese and I commend them to you. The following pages are the latest version of our safeguarding manual ‘A Safe Church’ and these should be widely available to those in your churches. https://southwark.anglican.org/safeguarding/diocesan-policies-and-procedures

It is my prayer that the polices and practice followed here in the Diocese of Southwark will help to contribute to making the Church a safe and welcoming place for all.'
