Advent Sunday

Occuring
for 1 hour, 30 mins
Venue
Holy Trinity, Southchurch
Address
Southchurch Boulevard, Southend-on-Sea, SS2 4XA, United Kingdom

Join us to start the countdown to Christmas on Advent Sunday, 3rd December, at 9.30.

Starting on the 3rd, a candle on a wreath will be lit every Sunday to symbolise our journey through Advent to the coming of Jesus on Christmas Day.

Advent Season is a very special time of year that sometimes gets lost in the bright lights of the Christmas season it precedes. The first day of Advent is the first day of a new church calendar and begins a four week period of preparation for the nativity of Jesus Christ at Christmas.

The Advent Season is all about reflecting on how we can prepare our hearts and homes for Christ’s birth in the world as it is today. It is a time for faith communities and families to remember, through prayer, reflection, special music, and good deeds, the true meaning of Jesus’s birth.
