A Patronal Feast is the occasion on which a parish annually honours the saint who was chosen as the Patron Saint of the parish. Today, this parish celebrates a feast to honour Saint Mary the Virgin, quite simply because she was chosen at the establishment of this parish to be its Patron Saint.

St Mary's Church Saffron Walden

St Mary's in Saffron Walden and its two daughter churches St James' in Sewards End and St John’s in Little Walden are all part of the Parish of Saffron Walden which in turn is part of the Saffron Walden and Villages Team ministry totalling twelve churches.

The parish of Saffron Walden is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Chelmsford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
