The theme for this year's Lent Course 'Lament' and to help explore its place in Judeo/Christian tradition and consequently in our own lives we will focus on six different approaches to Lament. Through scripture, song, personal reflection, and group work, we will seek to explore this often overlooked experience of life for all humans and how as Christians we can discover even greater hope and healing in and through our own Lament.

St Mary the Virgin, Newport, Essex.

Welcome to St Mary the Virgin Church, Newport, Essex. No one belongs here more than you. It is our mission to glorify God by serving the community. Following the example of Jesus, and seeking to model the inclusive love of God, we welcome all people whatever your status, wealth, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, age, health or mobility.

We believe that a church must first be a safe place in which to explore and to fail; where questions are encouraged and everyone is welcome. It would be lovely to see you at one of our services.  There is always a lot going on at Newport church, something for everyone. We are part of a benefice including Widdington, Quendon and Rickling.
